We're working with a leading Tier 1 contractor in the UK water sector who are looking to appoint a Quantity Surveyor to support a growing pipeline of work across long‑term frameworks. This is a team‑level role, offering exposure across a range of projects – ideal for someone looking to take the next step in their QS career, and also open to those earlier on who are ready to step up. The role is based in Exeter with hybrid working available, reporting into a Managing Quantity Surveyor, and you will be involved across the full commercial lifecycle—from supporting larger schemes to taking ownership of your own packages as you develop.
Responsibilities
* Applications, valuations and cost value reconciliation
* Cost control, forecasting and monthly reporting (value, cost, profit/loss, cash flow)
* Supply chain management – subcontract enquiries, negotiation and placement
* Contract administration (NEC3 / NEC4)
* Maintaining accurate commercial records and documentation
* Liaising with site teams, subcontractors and client representatives
* Providing commercial support to the wider project team
Qualifications
* Experience working as a Quantity Surveyor within a main contractor or design & build environment
* Degree qualified (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying
* Working knowledge of NEC contracts (or exposure to them)
Preferred
* Experience within the water sector or utilities (beneficial but not essential)
Open to
* Candidates earlier in their QS career (c. 1–3 years) who are looking to step up and develop
