Position Overview
We are looking for an experienced administrator to play an important role in the administrative service for the Audiology Department at OUH, based at the John Radcliffe Hospital. The Audiology team provides high quality care for individuals of all ages with disorders of hearing and balance, including an Auditory Implant Programme. With an emphasis on supporting the paediatric audiology service, this role includes coordination of patient waiting lists and staff rotas, responding to queries from families and colleagues, and providing reassurance when required. There will also be some PA support for senior clinical staff.
Key Responsibilities
* Coordinate patient waiting lists and staff rotas for the Audiology Department.
* Respond to telephone queries from patients and families and provide timely communication.
* Provide reassurance and support to families and colleagues as needed.
* Offer personal assistance to senior clinical staff.
* Maintain effective communication with the Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) Department, liaising frequently with ENT administrative staff and managers.
* Demonstrate flexibility and the ability to prioritize tasks in a busy environment.
* Show initiative, problem‑solving skills, and a positive, team‑player attitude.
Qualifications
* Previous NHS or public sector administrative experience.
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, internally and externally.
* IT proficiency, organisational reliability, and strong attention to detail.
Working Conditions
You will be based at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford. Work occurs during office hours. The post is funded at 28 hours per week (0.75 WTE). Requests for a flexible working pattern will be considered, and a limited amount of home‑based working may be possible.
About the Service
Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is one of the largest NHS teaching trusts in the country, providing a wide range of general and specialist clinical services across four hospitals. The Audiology Service focuses on the diagnosis and management of hearing loss, tinnitus, and balance problems in both children and adults. It includes an auditory implant programme and operates within the Specialist Surgery Directorate, spanning adult and paediatric audiology. The team comprises approximately 35 healthcare professionals—including audiologists, speech and language therapists, and six administrative staff.
