Finance Assistant (6-Month Contract) – Abingdon / Hybrid
Rapier Employment are recruiting a Finance Assistant on behalf of a well-established and growing business based in Abingdon. This is a 6-month contract offering hybrid working following an initial training period.
Role details
1. Job Title: Finance Assistant
2. Location: Abingdon (Hybrid – 50% office-based once trained)
3. Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:00–17:00 (40 hours per week)
4. Salary: £28,– £30,per annum (pro rata)
5. Contract: Up to 6 months
During the training period, you will be required to attend the office full-time. Once trained, a hybrid working model applies.
Key responsibilities
6. Prepare and produce monthly sales invoices in collaboration with Operations
7. Issue invoices and follow up payments via phone and email within agreed credit terms
8. Support credit control activities across designated customer accounts
9. Liaise with Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable teams
10. Assist with resolving escalated invoice queries
11. Support preparation of debtor reports and bad debt provisions
12. Match purchase orders to supplier invoices
13. Assist with supplier payment runs
14. Provide ad-hoc support to the wider Finance team as required
Experience & skills required
15. AAT qualified or equivalent experience
16. Strong Accounts Receivable / Accounts Payable knowledge, including reconciliations
17. High attention to detail with strong organisation and time-management skills
18. Confident Excel and general systems capability
19. Proactive, “can-do” approach with ownership mentality
20. Strong communication skills and ability to build relationships
21. Calm, solution-focused approach under pressure
Desirable (but not essential)
22. Experience using ERP systems
