Job Purpose
The Product Inspection function provides metrology expertise to support key engineering activities from product performance validation to new product development within the Fuel Injector System (FIS) function.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide technical support to the Product Inspection team by executing laboratory tasks and assignments as directed by the supervisor or designated team members.
* Accurately perform measurements, record data and prepare comprehensive reports in appropriate format.
* Draft work instructions or test methods using established standard templates.
* Actively participate in team meetings, contributing ideas for product and process improvements.
* Perform literature reviews and provide concise, relevant summaries.
* Ensure safe working practices are maintained within the laboratory environment.
* Adhere to, support, and help develop local and corporate procedures, ensuring compliance with applicable standards, including IATF requirement.
Skills – Mandatory
* Has a sound understanding of engineering principles.
* Basic understanding of surface finish.
* Ability to apply the skills and knowledge learnt on course to date.
* Good personal and presentation skills, to enable liaison with internal customers.
* Ability to work methodically and take initiative in improving established processes.
* Analytical and problem‑solving skills, self‑motivated and able to plan and manage own projects.
* Current IT knowledge of MS Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point.
* Good written and spoken fluency in English.
Skills – Desirable
* Proven experience with surface finish measurement.
* Experience in applying design for inspection and statistical analysis.
* 3D CAD experience.
* Applied knowledge of traceability, measurement uncertainty, gauge R&R, Measurement System Analysis (MSA).
* Programming skills using Matlab, Python and VBA.

Experience & Qualifications – Mandatory
* Working towards a Degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or related subject.

* Some previous engineering and/or laboratory experience.
Hours of Work
37 hours per week: 8am - 4.30pm Monday to Thursday, 1/2 hour unpaid lunch break. 8am - 1pm Friday, no lunch break.
Holiday
Students receive 25 days paid holiday in a full 12-month calendar period, pro‑rata for shorter periods.

£24,454.04
