Accountancy Recruit is partnering with a business that provides specialist services to the construction industry across the UK, in the recruitment of an Accounts Assistant based in Little Warley, Essex. You will become part of a collaborative, supportive accounts team within this successful, growing business and report to the Group Financial Controller. You will be involved in day-to-day transactions and associated tasks. The role offers study support to complete AAT or begin study. Daily Tasks will typically include the following - Maintain the purchase ledger using Exchequer. Process invoices, and generate payment runs in a timely manner. Ensure prompt clearance of invoice queries with suppliers: Establish good working relationships with key suppliers to ensure timely resolution of any queries. Preparing payment runs. Processing staff expense claims Sales ledger – raising invoices, sending invoices and remittance statements Credit Control - chasing of outstanding debt. Assisting in the preparation of payroll data / processing timesheets for submission to an external bureau: dealing with payroll queries Supporting the team in month end closure. CIS payments and returns Requirements & Skills Experience of working in a Purchase Ledger environment A recognised accounting qualification (AAT or similar) part or fully completed would be advantageous. Accuracy and attention to detail are essential. Numeracy skills and good IT (particularly Microsoft applications) and database management skills. Organisation and discipline, curiosity and an analytic mind. Confidence, patience and capable of remaining calm under pressure is also important as is working to deadlines. Interpersonal skills to build relationships internally with your colleagues and external suppliers. A friendly can-do attitude and good communication skills. Good time management skills.
