Medical Secretary Cardiology Fixed Term

We are pleased to offer a 1 year fixed term opportunity for an enthusiastic and dedicated Medical Secretary to join our friendly and supportive Clinical Administration Secretarial Team within Cardiology.
Medical Secretaries play a vital role in supporting our clinicians with tasks such as transcribing clinical correspondence, adding patients to the waiting list, inputting data and other essential administrative duties. Effective communication and attention to detail are essential. The position will be based at Royal Papworth Hospital (Biomedical Campus, Cambridge) and will require attendance at Kingfisher House. After training, you may work remotely part of the week.

Main duties of the job
* Track patients through the pathway – meeting oncology waiting times
* Add patients to the waiting list
* Communicate with patients, relatives and multidisciplinary teams
* Diary management
* Referral to Treatment (RTT)
* Use of administrative systems and patient information systems
* Minute taking
* Input data carefully into relevant systems
* Follow RTT procedures
Key responsibilities
* Collect and enter accurate clinical information.
* Maintain confidentiality and secure patient data.
* Coordinate appointments and manage diaries.
* Support multidisciplinary team communication and documentation.
* Assist with acoustic typing and minute taking as required.
* Prioritise and manage workload effectively.
Qualifications
* Keyboard skills to RSA Level 2/3 or equivalent.
* European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL) or equivalent qualification or experience.
* Level 3 or equivalent qualification or experience in Administration or Customer Service.
Experience
* Previous experience of using Microsoft Office Applications.
* Knowledge of secretarial or administrative procedures and systems.
* Previous experience of working in an office environment.
* Previous experience of audio‑typing.
* Ability to communicate sensitive information to colleagues, patients and relatives.
* Attention to detail in written and electronic communication and information storage.
* Experience working as part of a multi‑disciplinary team.
* Problem‑solving skills to assist patients, carers and staff.
* Organising, prioritising and adjusting own workload in relation to department priorities.
* Demonstrated personal duty of care regarding safe use of equipment and other resources.
* Encouragement of quality in own work and others.
* Sharing knowledge and skills with other team members.
* Previous experience of working in the NHS.
* Use of medical terminology.
* Minute‑taking experience.
