Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist
The closing date is 10 May 2026
We are looking for an enthusiastic Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist (Band 8a) within Critical Care to join the Therapies Directorate at the University Hospital of North Midlands. The post holder will be required to facilitate clinical development and extend the scope of current practice with the aim of delivering the highest quality and most up‑to‑date evidence‑based care.
The clinical specialist physiotherapist role will be responsible for the generation of new research opportunities and implementation of the most up‑to‑date evidence‑based practice. The role will have a responsibility to enhance the ongoing training and education framework of a large therapy team to ensure an optimum learning environment for both static and rotational staff and students. The role will have a responsibility to represent the organisation at a national networking level, influencing service development and marketing our service to key stakeholders.
Main duties of the job
Our Critical Care Unit is a regional trauma centre with 36 beds across trauma, surgical, medical, neurosurgical and spinal cord injury – providing an ideal setting for innovative care. Supported by an experienced therapy team of physiotherapists, occupational therapists and therapy technicians, the multidisciplinary team offers a challenging and collaborative working environment. This will give the post holder an excellent opportunity to build further clinical expertise that enhances and broadens respiratory and rehabilitation skills.
Supervision is provided by Principal Therapists and peer supervision. Continuous development is supported through appraisal, internal training and external learning.
There may be a requirement for some out‑of‑hours working.
