Multi-Skilled Technician role at CBRE, GWS, Data Centre Solutions UK. Location: Wednesbury, Birmingham, United Kingdom.
Responsibilities
Purpose of the job (but not limited to):
M&E Data Center Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the Data Centre and all critical and non-critical Facility PPMs, ensuring they are carried out to schedule and that all reactive work requests are completed.
* Compliance with CBRE processes and procedures; ensure the site fulfills contract requirements and follows client procedures.
* Deliver and ensure all Critical Facility PPMs are carried out to schedule and complete all reactive work requests in line with SLAs.
* Maintain maintenance in accordance with CBRE H&S procedures, using the permit to work system where applicable, and act on improvements identified during building and workplace inspections and reviews.
* Apply a risk-focused maintenance approach and operate plant and systems in data centres/critical environments.
* Ensure critical client services, computer rooms, data networks, manufacturing and revenue-earning services meet client requirements.
* Provide emergency response standby and call out; escalate urgent issues; respond to power interruptions, outages or emergencies consistent with the SLA.
* Support critical environment related audits as required and directed by line manager.
* Complete records and logs required to demonstrate delivery of maintenance requirements.
* Control and supervise contractors when required.
* Raise recommendations for improvements through line manager.
* Liaise with the CBRE QHS specialist to ensure audit compliance as directed by line management.
* Continually communicate high priority tasks to end users, client and CBRE Management team.
* Assist and enhance service delivery through best practice and the effective use of site systems and equipment.
* Take responsibility for own technical training requirements and development program including competency assessments, critical services training and scenario training exercises.
* Call out and regular paid overtime.
* Become a CBRE Authorized Person LV and potential for HV.
Accountabilities
* Reporting to the Contract Manager and Contract Supervisor.
* Accountability to the CBRE Functional heads, as appropriate.
* Accountable day-to-day to relevant client contacts.
Experience Required
* Understanding of Health and Safety requirements and the ability to supervise contractors during works on site.
* Experience in critical change management process and working in a critical environment.
* 18th Edition Electrical Wiring Regulations & Electrical City & Guilds as a minimum; 2391-52 Testing & Inspection would be an advantage.
* Demonstrate good mechanical knowledge.
* Team working and experience in customer facing situations, good communicator with computer literacy.
* Experience in managing sub-contractors, running permit to work system and being accountable for others' safety.
* Flexible working with the ability to manage own workloads.
* Must have a clean driving license and be based within one hour from site.
* Good working knowledge of Data Centers.
* Self-motivated delivery of M&E tasks (both preventative and reactive).
* Knowledge of emergency response / standby / call out activities and protocols.
* Be or have been an Authorized Person LV.
* Experience of operation of UPS, Standby Power and Critical Environment Cooling & Cooling Towers would be an advantage.
* Working knowledge of F-Gas an advantage (F-Gas handling not required).
* Be part of an on-call rota to cover for emergencies out of working hours and be able to respond within the one hour SLA.
