We are looking for a Senior Credit Controller based in our new Norwich Office.
Position Summary
As a senior credit controller, you will be responsible for collecting debt from our debtors, ensuring cash allocation, and resolving queries and disputes.
A detailed knowledge of insurance and reinsurance credit control, along with strong communication skills, is essential to maximize premium collection income and manage exceptions and bad debt exposure. A keen eye for detail and the ability to reconcile complex company accounts are also required.
Good leadership, communication, and workflow skills are essential for this role.
Key Responsibilities
* Ensure that Credit Control procedures comply with CNA group requirements, working with your manager to align practices and escalate concerns promptly.
* Document policies, procedures, and workflows for your responsibilities and maintain records to meet audit and statutory standards.
* Balance support, coaching, and development of new team members with your own broker/debtor portfolio management, meeting set targets.
* Support exception management, premium collection, and follow-up actions with the team and brokers for settlement within agreed terms, escalating when necessary.
* Prepare and review outgoing statements and execute settlements with counterparts.
* Communicate effectively with brokers via email, telephone, and face-to-face meetings to resolve queries and reduce aged debt.
* Promote efficient query management, working with stakeholders to identify trends and reduce booking errors. Assist in resolving unallocated funds and support collection processes.
* Assist in delivering operational and management reports.
* Develop and initiate new or adjusted credit control activities to improve financial returns and service quality.
* Serve as a regional and team reference point within the Billing & Collection team.
* Manage vendor relationships and related processes.
* Perform additional duties as required.
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
* Strong understanding of credit control, debt management, and exception handling.
* Good knowledge of the insurance and reinsurance industries and related business functions.
* Excellent communication, leadership, and customer service skills. Multilingual abilities are a plus but not essential.
* High attention to detail and ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
* Analytical skills to support decision-making.
* Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other relevant software.
* Knowledge of regulatory and legal requirements for insurance premium collection and settlement.
* Leadership or coaching experience in the insurance or brokerage sectors is desirable but can be demonstrated through past performance.
* Qualifications in Credit Management, Accounting, or Insurance are advantageous.
