Reporting to the Principal Environmental Health Officer, but managing your own caseload, you will undertake a wide variety of regulatory interventions to tackle poor housing conditions and improve public health in the borough.
Your role will involve:
1. Inspecting and assessing housing conditions using the Housing Health and Safety Rating System
2. Undertaking enforcement action against criminal landlords using legal notices, orders, prosecution, and civil financial penalties
3. Determining licence applications for houses in multiple occupation and enforcing compliance with licence conditions and other regulatory requirements
4. Regulating Caravan Sites through Mobile Home Site Licensing
5. Responding to unauthorised encampments
This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic Environmental Health professional to join our residential environmental health team.
Requirements include experience in an environmental health, regulatory, or enforcement role, applying the Housing Health and Safety Rating System, enforcement under the Housing Act 2004, and licensing/enforcing HMOs and mobile home sites. A passion for improving public health and tackling health inequalities is essential.
