Help for Heroes – Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner (PWP)

Salary: £32,821 per annum

Location: Remote (with occasional travel to Downton, Salisbury, SP5 3RB and other UK locations as needed)

Hours: Full time, 35 hours per week

Contract: Permanent

We have an exciting opportunity for a Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner (PWP) to join our Hidden Wounds Service at Help for Heroes and play a vital role in supporting veterans and their families to live well after service.

About the Role

The Hidden Wounds Service is a growing, multi-disciplinary, evidence-based psychological therapy service working with veterans, their families and loved ones experiencing a range of common mental health difficulties.

As a Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner (PWP), you will provide high-quality, evidence-based low-intensity psychological interventions, including guided self‑help, CBT‑informed interventions and psychoeducation, in line with NICE guidance and service KPIs.

You will manage a clinical caseload, carrying out comprehensive assessments including risk assessment and formulation, and support beneficiaries in achieving their recovery goals through structured interventions and regular clinical review.

Working both independently and collaboratively within a multi‑disciplinary team, you will contribute to safe, effective and person‑centred care, while maintaining accurate clinical records and outcome data to support service evaluation.

You’ll receive regular clinical and caseload supervision, alongside peer support and reflective practice. The service is primarily remote, offering flexibility while ensuring you remain connected to a supportive and experienced team.

In addition to clinical delivery, you will contribute to continuous improvement, service development and maintaining high clinical standards within established governance frameworks.

About You

You are a qualified Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner with experience delivering low‑intensity CBT interventions in a clinical setting.

You will hold a Post Graduate Certificate in Evidence‑Based Psychological Therapies (PWP core training) and be eligible for, or registered with, the BABCP or BPS Wider Psychological Workforce Register.

You’ll thrive in this role if you:

* Are passionate about delivering high‑quality, person‑centred psychological support
* Have strong assessment, risk management and clinical decision‑making skills
* Communicate clearly and sensitively with beneficiaries, families and professional colleagues
* Are organised, adaptable and able to manage a clinical caseload effectively
* Value supervision, reflective practice and continuous professional development
* Enjoy working collaboratively while also being comfortable working autonomously
* Experience of working with veterans or within the charity sector is desirable, but not essential.

You are also willing and able to travel as required for meetings, training or service delivery, including to Downton (SP5 3RB) or London, with occasional travel to other UK locations.

You are also comfortable staying away from home overnight on occasion, when required to support events or team activities.

About the Team

You’ll join the Hidden Wounds Service, part of Help for Heroes’ wider Recovery Services, delivering specialist psychological support to the Armed Forces community.

The team is values‑driven, supportive and committed to evidence‑based practice, learning and continuous improvement. Collaboration sits at the heart of how we work – both within the service and across the wider charity — to ensure beneficiaries receive holistically, joined‑up support.

In return we can offer you:

* Belonging to a team who make a difference to our community and value equality, diversity and inclusion.
* 29 days’ annual leave plus 8 bank holidays, regardless of service — plus your birthday off to celebrate!
* Opportunity to buy and sell up to 5 days annual leave per year.
* Added to our free health scheme from day one, including discounts on dental, opticians, massages, and more – with the option to upgrade.
* 3 volunteer days per year to support the Help for Heroes community.
* A generous salary sacrifice pension scheme with an 8% employer contribution and a minimum 3% employee contribution, plus life insurance up to 4× salary as an active member.

We are committed to equality, diversity and inclusion and welcome applications from all backgrounds.
