Job Purpose
You will be actively involved in development, therefore responsible for implementing sections of functionality, ensuring they are delivered on time with the correct approach and to the standards defined.
Job Duties
1. Lead the design, development, and maintenance of software applications ensuring quality, efficiency and maximising performance and minimising technical debt.
2. Feature development and evaluation of the tooling processes both in development and deployment alongside the Platform Engineering team.
3. Write clean, maintainable, and scalable code that meets the requirements of the project.
4. Debug and resolve software issues, including fixing bugs and optimizing performance.
5. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Designers, Testers, and Project Managers, to deliver high-quality software.
6. Provide technical direction and guidance to the development team, including code reviews, mentoring and ensuring the platform coding standards are being adhered to.
7. Implement and follow software development processes, including Agile and Scrum methodologies, and lead process improvement efforts.
8. Stay up-to-date with new technologies and programming languages and apply this knowledge to improve software development processes.
9. Document software design, code, and test procedures, and ensure that all documentation is complete and accurate.
10. Participate in the estimation of software development projects and lead the planning and scheduling of projects.
11. Participate in customer and end-user interactions to gather requirements and provide support.
12. Contribute to the development and maintenance of technical documentation, including user manuals and help systems.
13. Mentor junior members of the team and supporting their professional growth as well as guiding other team members.
14. Act as a liaison between the Engineering team and Senior Management, communicating project status and technical challenges
15. Assume a leadership role in the company, representing the Engineering team and promoting best practices in software development.
16. Mentor Junior Developers and assist with their professional development.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Essential
17. C# .NET (Framework and Core), SQL/MySQL building web services
18. Enterprise level single page applications using HTML, CSS and JavaScript, and excellent and current knowledge and experience with Javascript frameworks
19. Knowledge of the latest ES standards and TypeScript is beneficial
20. A keen eye for detail is important, especially in this role when it comes to UX/UI
21. Excellent understanding or OOP concepts and design patterns
22. Experience with Message brokers
23. NoSQL experience also beneficial
24. Any history working with WinForms/WPF is useful
25. Expert knowledge of software design and architecture
26. Experience of TDD or similar approaches to ensuring quality
27. Source Control using Git
28. Experience working in an Agile environment
29. An excellent communicator, both verbal and written
30. Love working as part of a team and larger working groups; collaborating with others across a mixture of disciplines and experience levels
31. Lead continuous improvements in the team
32. An interest in troubleshooting and problem-solving
33. Participation in releases and/or out-of-hours on-call availability as needed
Desirable
34. Expertise in performance optimisation
35. Experience in the gaming industry is a significant advantage
36. Working with, and supporting, remote developers (working on the same product)
37. Working with teams on career development
38. Having been part of a recruitment panel (either as hiring team lead or participating as a technical expert)
Qualifications
39. A degree in Computer Science is desirable but not essential.
40. AWS, Azure or GCP certification is desirable but not essential.
