Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and experienced HGV Class 2 Driver to join our dynamic transportation team. In this role, you will be responsible for safely operating a commercial vehicle, primarily a rigid truck with a manual transmission, to deliver goods efficiently to our sites in South Wales. Your expertise in driving, load & unload procedures, and heavy vehicle operation will ensure timely deliveries while maintaining the highest safety standards. Duties
* Safely operate a Class 2 heavy goods vehicle (HGV) with manual transmission, adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations
* Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle, including checking brakes, lights, tyres, and mechanical systems to ensure optimal performance
* Load and unload freight using equipment such as pallet jacks, forklift trucks, or other tools, ensuring cargo is secure and undamaged
* Collect goods from our yards, suppliers and deliver them to various locations in South Wales.
* Return goods and plant from our sites to suppliers or our yard.
* Maintain accurate documentation, including tachograph records, manifests, and delivery/return tickets
Experience
* Proven commercial driving experience with a focus on route driving and shuttle services
* Hands-on experience operating various types of commercial vehicles such as tipper wagons and Hiabs
* Mechanical knowledge of heavy vehicles to perform basic maintenance checks and troubleshoot issues
* Prior warehouse experience involving load & unload activities using pallet jacks or forklifts
* Excellent communication skills for interacting with team members and suppliers effectively
* Valid clean driver's license with appropriate endorsements for heavy goods vehicles (Class 2)
* Current Driver CPC card is essential
* Current HIAB/Lorry loader qualification preferable
* Salary dependant on experience
