Administrator (Maternity Cover) Contract: Full-time, fixed-term (12 months) Potential to become permanent, subject to business needs and performance Hours: 37.5 per week | Monday–Friday, 9:00–17:00 Flexibility required around events (earlier mornings / later evenings occasionally) Salary: £24,500 – £26,000 DOE Location: Blackburn area Travel: Occasional travel to events required Reporting to: Operations & Events Director The Opportunity We’re recruiting an Administrator to join a high-energy, fast-paced and growing business operating across media, publishing and events. The company produces an award-winning publication alongside a busy calendar of industry-leading events — from intimate roundtables to large-scale flagship awards welcoming over 1,000 guests. This role is offered as 12-month maternity cover, with the potential to become permanent as the business continues to evolve. The Role This is a forward-facing, hands-on administrative role supporting day-to-day operations across the business. You’ll work closely with Operations, Marketing and Events to ensure publications, campaigns and live events run smoothly. You’ll be naturally organised, process-driven and confident picking things up quickly — not afraid to ask questions, suggest improvements, or bring ideas to the table. Strong customer service instincts are essential, as you’ll regularly liaise with clients, partners and guest speakers. About You • Proven administrative experience (events, media or similar environments beneficial) • Interest in events management and/or media highly advantageous • Process-driven with strong organisational skills • CRM experience beneficial (or confident learning new systems) • Excellent attention to detail and data accuracy • Strong written and verbal communication skills • Confident, proactive and comfortable in a customer-facing role • Flexible to support occasional early starts or late finishes during events Key Responsibilities Publishing & Magazine Support • Process booking forms and maintain accurate CRM records • Liaise with clients and suppliers to gather artwork, content and approvals to deadline Office & Operations • Support the Operations & Events Director with general office and PA-style administration • Manage incoming calls, emails and meeting bookings • Maintain staff holiday records • Order stationery and office supplies; arrange maintenance when required • Coordinate meetings, appointments and diary management Events Administration • Manage end-to-end event administration, including delegate data and communications • Book meetings and coordinate diaries for guest speakers and stakeholders • Prepare event materials (name badges, delegate packs, briefing documents) • Maintain templates for speaker briefings and scripts • Manage invitations, responses and follow-ups • Attend events throughout the year as part of the delivery team • Support the planning and delivery of flagship events during peak periods Marketing & Data • Maintain clean, accurate and well-segmented marketing and events data • Own mailing list updates and data hygiene • Support the transition to a full CRM, including data migration and adoption Team Support • Provide ad-hoc project support to senior management • Act as a key organisational hub for the team • Contribute ideas to improve processes, templates and ways of working Benefits • 30 days’ holiday including bank holidays • Learning and development opportunities • Employer pension contributions • Mental health support • Health & wellbeing NHS top-up programme • Phone allowance Interested?
