Highly Specialist (Child) Psychologist

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a specialist Tier 4 national forensic All Wales forensic service for children and adolescents. The Forensic Adolescent and Consultation Service (FACS) is commissioned by the Joint Commissioning Committee (JCC) and is hosted by Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board. We offer specialist consultation to services supporting children who present with high risk, complex needs and vulnerability.

You will join other psychologists within the team and work alongside an experienced and supportive multi-disciplinary team, with wider connections from the developing and expanding CTM Psychological Professions community.


Main duties of the job

We are looking to welcome a Highly Specialist (Child) Psychologist into our service who can provide:

* highly specialist consultation service to youth justice services in Wales, providing multi-agency team formulation through the model of Enhanced Case Management (ECM)
* forensic mental health psychology expertise in supporting children within youth justice and CAMHS
* service development changes within the area by the service and facilitate service improvement through audit, research and training activities
* be responsible for a caseload of children open to the service, working to support their multi-agency system in managing children's risk of harm to self and others

Person Specification


Qualifications and Knowledge

* Honours Degree in Psychology. Postgraduate Doctorate in Clinical (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996) as accredited by the BPS, or Postgraduate Doctorate in Forensic Psychology
* Relevant additional specialist training or supervised practice in a therapeutic approach
* Relevant additional specialist training or knowledge and experience in a child setting
* Health Care Professionals Council (HCPC) registration as a practitioner psychologist
* Clinical supervisor training for doctoral clinical psychology trainees
* Additional training in attachment related interventions with children and/or young people
* Relevant knowledge of legislation pertaining to working in child multi-agency services
* Welsh language speaking/listening skills at Level 3 or above


Experience

* Experience working as a qualified applied psychologist in an area relevant to this post
* Evidence of competent and autonomous clinical practice, effective multi-disciplinary working, and involvement in safeguarding and multi-agency risk management approaches
* Experience of working within CAMH service for clients with complex needs and/or in forensic systems
* Experience of offering a specialist consultation service
* Experience of forensic risk assessment and use of structured professional judgement tools
