Social Worker in the Fostering service. The team comprises of a Team Leader who is supported by Senior Practitioners, social workers and a family support worker.
We are busy team working hard in all aspects of fostering and the successful candidate will hold a manageable case load that would involve the recruitment, assessment, training and support of foster carers. You will also be expected to work as part of our duty service: taking enquiries from prospective foster carers, dealing with referrals for placements, finding suitable placements for children and young people and dealing with emergency situations as they arise.
We are looking to recruit a social worker who has either experience of working in family placement or an interest and enthusiasm for getting involved in this area of work. The applicant should have experience of working within the Child Protection guidelines as well as some knowledge of current legislation concerns children and families generally and family placement work specifically.
Applicants should have a sound value base, a trauma informed approach, excellent communication and report writing skills and a working knowledge and understanding of the family placement social work role and responsibilities.

Please Note:
All home/hybrid workers must live in the UK. Where an application for home-working is supported, it will be subject to a satisfactory trial period. Employees will be expected to attend Council offices for the duration of induction, and be on site in East Lothian workplaces, as required. Employees with a hybrid working arrangement in place will be office based and able to work from home, with permission, on an ad hoc basis.
