Role Overview
The post is based in the Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust Rheumatology department at Hammersmith Hospital (HH). In our department, a multidisciplinary approach to the management of rheumatic diseases is regarded as a prerequisite for delivering high quality patient care, and we work closely with other specialties such as Renal Medicine, Respiratory Medicine, Cardiology, Neurology and Radiology. The ICHNT Rheumatology department serves the northwest London area and is recognised as a national and international leading centre in the treatment of rheumatic conditions. We also work closely with local community musculoskeletal services providers.
Role Details
This is a locum, vacancy cover, full‑time post until August 2026. The position is suitable for doctors with general medicine knowledge at the level expected for a senior house officer, and ideally (though not essential) with some previous rheumatology experience. The post offers an exciting opportunity to join a rheumatology department recognised for its exceptional care and multidisciplinary approach.
Responsibilities
* Deliver a broad range of rheumatology services, including outpatient general rheumatology clinics, specialist clinics such as LVV and scleroderma, inpatient rheumatology reviews and ward referrals, and participation in multidisciplinary team meetings.
* Act as a supernumerary to outpatient clinics and work under the direct supervision of a consultant or rheumatology specialty trainee.
* Participate in the GIM rota (1:6 with 7 long days, 9am‑10pm, over 6 weeks), which attracts a 1B (40%) supplement.
* Collaborate in translational and bench research with Imperial College.
* Support medical, nursing and managerial colleagues to ensure clinical efficiency, quality of outcomes, financial management and operational efficiency.
* Maintain an up‑to‑date portfolio for training and revalidation.
* Support the nurse team in dealing with clinical queries.
