Class 1 day driver

The Best Connection Ltd are an Employment Business recruiting on behalf of our client. Our client is a busy masonry manufacturing company based in Normanton supplying highly finished stone kitchen counter tops throughout the UK via a series of regional depots and outlets and occasionally, directly to the customers premises. All worktops are secured to an 'A' frame and these are loaded onto the vehicle by the Despatch team. Our client operates a fleet of Class 1 articulated trucks. We urgently require a Class 1 day driver to support holiday and sickness cover running into their peak season work and possibly on to a permanent offer of employment. An early morning start is usually required - anything from 02.00 to 04.00 as well as later starts on occasion. There is no handballing required with this work. Due to the early morning starts and the importance of ensuring delivery takes place we require drivers of the upmost reliability who live within a reasonable commuting distance from Normanton (Jct 31 M62). PAY RATES : HGV CE DRIVERS WILL BE PAID £ 19.94 PER HOUR MON TO FRI WEEKEND WORK IS PAID AT £ 24.94 PER HOUR. ALL BREAKS ARE PAID. GUARANTEED MINIMUM 8 HOURS PAY PER DAY. A paid induction and driving assessment will be required prior to starting work. Ideally applicants will be well experienced and competent drivers in the use of articulated class 1 vehicles and curtain sider trailer equipment and must have held their CE entitlement for at least 6 months with active driving throughout that period. Very good strapping skills are required for this role. Our client operates a zero tolerance KPI on tachograph and WTD infringements and also uses Microlise for driver & vehicle management which candidates are asked to take on board as part of their routine driver supervision.
