Associate Director (Civils/Infrastructure) – Birmingham

This global practice of Engineers and Architects continues to be awarded a number of enviable projects across the built, infrastructure and environmental sectors. Building upon the continued success of infrastructure projects being delivered in the UK, the team are looking for an Associate Director level to help advance the engineering design capability, develop strong client relationships in the public and private sector, and grow the infrastructure team. The role focuses on supporting the delivery of a wide range of multi-disciplinary traffic, highways, and infrastructure projects for public and private sector clients across the UK, including preliminary and detailed design for active travel projects, bus priority schemes, urban traffic management schemes and public realm enhancement projects.
Responsibilities
* Project management/director level leadership for transport infrastructure design projects across the business, with control over project budgets.
* Manage staff in the preparation of outline, preliminary and detailed designs.
* Lead teams on a wide range of schemes, ensuring work is technically accurate and delivered to applicable standards.
* Review technical documents and reports; assist in the preparation of expressions of interest and tender submissions.
* Staff development and mentoring; ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental legislation.
* Engage with clients and professional partners to form constructive, lasting relationships; drive provision of highway design and engineering services for developments/active travel projects.
* Drive detailed highway design, drainage, and infrastructure project delivery; coordinate multi-discipline design inputs.
* Prepare preliminary and detailed designs for highways, drainage, and infrastructure projects.
* Value the experience of active travel projects, bus priority schemes, urban traffic management schemes, or public realm enhancement projects.
Qualifications
* Chartered Civil Engineer (likely), with experience in the design consultancy environment.
* Typically 8+ years in the infrastructure/design sector with ability to form constructive client relationships.
* Strong background in highway design and infrastructure development, including experience with active travel projects preferred.
* Proficiency with industry-leading design software and ability to coordinate multi-discipline design inputs.
