Overview
Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting for an Occupational Therapist Specialist Practitioner. The closing date is 15 February 2026. The post is based at Elmleigh (Havant).
Elmleigh is an adult acute mental health hospital with a total of 33 beds, divided into two ward areas and an urgent care zone which facilitates a place of safety for patients detained under section 135/136. The female ward (Ruby Ward) has 16 beds and the male ward (Sapphire Ward) has 17 beds.
You will work collaboratively with service users employing a range of OT assessments and interventions to support recovery and will have the opportunity to develop skills in delivering these. You will supervise junior occupational therapy staff, AHP support workers, activity coordinators and support students on practice placement. Ideally, you will have experience of working within mental health services and this role would suit someone who is able to work autonomously and as part of a team. You will be encouraged and supported in your development through a comprehensive induction, regular supervision from a senior OT and CPD.

* To hold a caseload of clients with complex mental health needs, using evidence based/client centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions.
* To provide leadership for occupational therapy staff, occupational therapy support workers and activity coordinators, through regular supervision and appraisal.
* To contribute to the planning, development and evaluation of the occupational therapy service, holding responsibility for defined service projects, working under the direction of the Occupational Therapy Team Manager.
* To regularly supervise occupational therapy students on practice placement and take part in yearly practice educator updates.
