Assistant Quantity Surveyor
The Role
An exciting newly created opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join our growing and dynamic team at Thomas Bow Limited, a leading company within the Civil Engineering, Highways, and Surfacing industry. The company has an extensive track record of successfully delivering projects throughout the UK. As an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you will take ownership of multiple projects across the midlands working closely with the Managing Quantity Surveyor and Contracts Managers. This job offers hand-on experience and full exposure to the end-to-end commercial management of projects, including contract administration, cost and change management, subcontract management, interim valuations, and final accounts.
The role is based at our Nottingham Head Office, with travel to local sites as required. This is an excellent opportunity for a degree-qualified Assistant Quantity Surveyor looking to progress their career within a leading national civil engineering business that values career ambition and technical ability.

Responsibilities
· Assist in the preparation of cost forecasts and budgets.
· Read and understand project drawings, specifications and other contract documents.
· Monitor project progress and track costs throughout the full project lifecycle.
· Assist in the preparation of tender and contract documents, including Bills of Quantities.
· Support subcontractor procurement and management including tender enquiries and payment applications.
· Assist with the preparation of accurate monthly and final complete work valuations.
· Support the management of variations, cost control, and change management.
· Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
· Liaise with clients, project managers, engineers, and other internal and external
stakeholders.

· Strong numerical and analytical skills.

· The ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work efficiently under pressure.
· Strong communication and organisational skills.
What you need to Succeed
* A degree in Quantity Surveying or a related field.
* At least 1 year’s demonstrable experience, ideally within the highways sector
* A full UK Driving License
* CSCS Card
* To be based locally to the head office and willing to travel to local sites
* A proactive attitude and a desire to learn and progress your Quantity Surveying career.
* Working towards Membership or accreditation with a professional body (e.g., RICS, CICES, AIQS, CIOB)
