Main duties of the job
To work as a member of the Dermatology Nursing service and assist the qualified nursing staff in the planning, implementation of health care to patients. The post holder will be expected to be involved in venepuncture.

Our Dermatology services are spread across two main sites, the Royal Blackburn and Burnley general hospital. Our treatment room service is situated on the dermatology department at the Burnley general hospital site
Treatment room operates Monday to Friday, 0730am – 18:00hrs.
The team occasionally need to cover Saturday and Sunday mornings for waiting list initiation clinics with an 8:30am start and 13:00 finish.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Support to specialist services within dermatology outpatient’s clinics and chaperone duties to support our patients and clinicians, conducting various dermatology assessments, diagnostic tests and assisting to support our nurse led clinics.
You need to be able to demonstrate good, effective communication skills, be a caring and hardworking professional individual and be committed to working in a busy and often challenging environment and assist the team in delivering excellent patient care.
Responsible for providing a range of support to help manage our specialist services within dermatology outpatient’s clinics, treatment room and minor skin surgery clinics when required.
To support the productive operation of the unit environment by undertaking a range of non-clinical activities which contribute to the maintenance of a safe and clean environment.
To undertake all duties within the agreed standards/competencies set for the sphere of practice and planned by the Senior Sister
To promote the privacy and dignity of clients at all times, respecting the confidential nature of the work or as defined by the Trust.
To function as a member of the multi-disciplinary team and develop good working relationships.
Be responsible for disposal of clinical waste in line with infection control policies
To participate in setting up clinics, including trays and trolleys, treatment and examination rooms.
Ensure confidentiality at all times
Monitor the patient’s condition and report significant changes to the senior nurse or medical staff.
To attend team meetings as necessary
Be familiar with the location and use of all resuscitation equipment
Required to participate within the scope of the role in any sudden unexpected event e.g. Collapse, resuscitation, injury
Required to carry out competency based clinical skills as delegated by a qualified nurse e.g. Venepuncture
Be familiar with the safe disposal of all sharps equipment in line with Trust procedure
To undertake ordering of equipment and nursing supplies when required
