Senior Children\'s Residential Worker (Cae Bryn House) – 32 hours per week.

If so, this is an exciting time to join Bridgend CBC as we remodel the way we meet the needs of children and young people who need our support. We continue to expand our provision with the addition of a new service.
The homes provide placements of varying lengths to children/young people aged 6 to 18 years (at the time of admission) who for various reasons cannot live with their own immediate or extended family. The homes are committed to offering a stimulating, safe, caring environment that promotes a holistic approach to all aspects of the child/young person\'s life.
The Homes Aim
* Provide children/young people with an individualised package of support that focuses on their assessed needs.
* Offer children/young people therapeutically informed interventions to assist them in achieving personal well-being.
* Assist children/young people to explore their own issues and experiences and work through emotions and feelings which may become a barrier to a stable placement and future accommodation.
* Provide appropriate levels of support that recognise, value, and encourage children/young people to maintain personal skills and competencies and promote their confidence and self-esteem.
* Provide a comprehensive package of educational support to promote the best possible outcomes for children/young people within their educational setting.
* Work closely with families or substitute families to ensure that when children/young people return home or go to other suitable placements promoting their young person\'s independence.
* Provide age-appropriate independent living programmes to assist young people to develop the necessary skills to enable them to, if appropriate, live independently.
Role and Responsibilities
As a Senior Children\'s Residential Worker in Bridgend, you will be based in one service but may be required to work across a range of services supporting young people and the residential service as a whole. You will be suitably qualified in line with the qualification framework and have substantial experience working in children\'s residential care, with relevant experience detailing this. As a senior you will be responsible for organising and running shifts, attending meetings, writing reports, health and safety, supporting key working, petty cash, medication, supervising staff, and ensuring regulatory requirements are met.
You will form part of the management team at the service and be an integral part of our delivery of care and support. You will be committed to your own personal professional development and to improving and developing the workforce under your charge.

The ability to greet customers through the medium of Welsh is a requirement for this post.
Protecting children, young people or adults at risk is a core responsibility of all council employees.
An Enhanced Children and Adults Barred list criminal records check by the Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) is a requirement for this post.
