Job Description
VANRATH is recruiting a Senior Quantity Surveyor to work within the Building Maintenance department for a leading Construction Company in Belfast, Northern Ireland. The role offers a salary of £55,000 - £65,000 plus a benefits package including a company car/fuel, pension, 25 days annual leave, life cover, employee assistance programs, discounts, gym membership, and learning opportunities.
The Senior Quantity Surveyor will lead all commercial, financial, and contractual aspects of multiple projects, focusing on maximizing profitability, ensuring legal and contractual compliance, and managing commercial issues proactively. Responsibilities include overseeing project budgets, managing contractual administration, supervising procurement, conducting valuations, and managing risks.
Key Responsibilities
1. Project Financial Management: Manage budgets, forecasts, and financial reports; ensure cost control and effective cash collection.
2. Contract Administration: Lead contract negotiations, variations, and compliance to minimise legal risks.
3. Procurement and Tendering: Oversee tender processes, bid evaluations, and subcontractor/supplier selection.
4. Cost Valuation and Reporting: Conduct valuations, manage payments, and prepare final accounts; ensure accurate financial reporting.
5. Risk Management: Identify and mitigate financial and contractual risks to protect company interests.
Candidate Profile
* Degree qualified or relevant qualification
* Extensive experience as a Quantity Surveyor, with a proven track record in senior roles
* Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and industry practices
* Advanced knowledge of contract law, building regulations, and health and safety
* Excellent commercial, negotiation, and communication skills
* Experience in social housing or maintenance projects is preferred
* Good IT skills and ability to work under pressure
