We are seeking a highly driven and strategic Business Development Manager (BDM) to lead growth initiatives within the SMART Buildings sector. This role will focus on identifying, developing, and managing new business opportunities, building long-term client relationships, and driving adoption of innovative building technologies and solutions.
The successful candidate will combine commercial acumen with technical understanding of smart building technologies—covering IoT, automation, energy efficiency, workplace experience, and integrated building management systems.
Key Responsibilities
Business Growth & Sales
* Identify, develop, and close new business opportunities in the SMART building sector across commercial real estate, corporate offices, mixed-use developments, and public sector projects.
* Build a robust pipeline of clients, projects, and partnerships.
* Achieve and exceed revenue and growth targets.
Client & Stakeholder Engagement
* Develop and maintain strong relationships with property developers, consultants, landlords, facility managers, and technology providers.
* Understand client needs and translate them into tailored SMART building solutions.
* Represent the company at industry events, exhibitions, and networking forums.
Strategy & Market Development
* Analyse market trends and competitive activity to shape go-to-market strategies.
* Collaborate with internal teams (technical, marketing, and product) to position solutions effectively.
* Provide input to leadership on new service offerings and market opportunities.
Solution Selling
* Work with technical teams to present proposals, RFP responses, and business cases.
* Ensure a consultative sales approach that focuses on long-term value creation for clients.
* Champion sustainable, digital-first, and people-centric building solutions.
Key Skills & Experience
* Proven track record in business development or sales within the built environment, ideally in smart buildings, building automation, IoT, BMS, or real estate technology.
* Strong network within the UK property, construction, or facilities management industries.
* Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
* Strategic thinker with the ability to translate technical solutions into commercial value.
* Results-oriented, self-motivated, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
* Degree in Business, Engineering, Technology, or related discipline (preferred but not essential).
