Level 2 Teaching Assistant Required in Preston The Headteacher of a reputable Primary School located in Fulwood, Preston is keen to secure a committed and hardworking Teaching Assistant to join their Key Stage 1 team. This role will begin from 13th April 2026. This is a full-time position, working 8:45–15:25 Monday to Friday, term time only, providing general classroom support in a Year 1 class. The Headteacher and SENCO recognise that support staff are vital in ensuring that pupils achieve their full potential and develop into confident, resilient, and compassionate individuals who can make a positive contribution to the local community. The successful candidate will work alongside experienced teachers and support staff in this rewarding and engaging role. You will be expected to provide general classroom support, with a strong focus on early learning and development in Key Stage 1. A key part of the role will involve supporting the delivery of phonics sessions, therefore a good knowledge of phonics and experience supporting early reading is essential. You should have high expectations of young learners and a genuine interest in supporting children at the beginning of their educational journey. A good understanding of English and Maths is important, alongside the ability to support pupils with varying needs, including those with additional educational needs such as social, emotional, and mental health needs, and children who are learning English as an additional language. A caring, flexible, and proactive approach is essential. To be considered, you must hold a Level 2 childcare-related qualification (or equivalent), and have experience working within a KS1 setting. Rates of pay are competitive for work of this nature, starting at £14.30 per hour.
