Who We Are & What's on Offer
We're recruiting Test Technicians to join a specialist team operating a live firing range and test facility in Wimborne. You'll be part of the force behind some of the most advanced aerospace systems on the market - from air-to-air refuelling rigs to high-pressure ejection systems and next-gen defensive aids.
Whether you're ex-Forces, aerospace-trained, or a hands-on technician with high-pressure systems experience, this is a unique opportunity to work on real hardware, in real test environments, with real responsibility.
What Will I Be Doing?
As a Test Technician (Live Firing Range) you'll support engineering teams through set-up, testing, data capture, and maintenance in a live test environment - including pyrotechnics, pneumatics, and high-speed capture systems.
Your role will include:
Running explosive test set-ups for air-to-air and air-to-ground ejection systems
Supporting live testing of refuelling systems using AAR rigs
Operating and maintaining critical test equipment (calibration, returns, traceability)
Compiling and analysing engineering test data
Performing DAQ fault-finding and assisting with technical troubleshooting
Supporting high-speed camera operations
Managing area control: access, asset allocation, and maintenance
Driving continuous improvement and applying 5S principles to keep the range safe and efficient
Who Are We Looking For?
You're methodical under pressure, detail-focused, and thrive in highly controlled technical environments. You'll likely come from one of these backgrounds:
Level 5 - Ex-RAF or similar with direct experience in explosive test facilities, diagnostics, calibration, and fire/control systems
Level 4 - Solid technical experience bridging hands-on skills and system-level knowledge
Level 3 - Strong technician-level skill set with fault-finding ability and high-pressure system familiarity (aviation background not essential)
What Do I Need?
Recognised aerospace apprenticeship or HM Forces engineering background
ONC/HNC or equivalent (dependant on experience level)
Minimum 3 years' aerospace or high-reliability sector experience
Competence with test procedures, fault-finding, and data systems
Understanding of safe systems of work, risk assessments, and engineering standards
A team-first mindset with strong communication and problem-solving skills
