Role Description: We have an exciting opportunity for Apprentice Asphalt Technician to join our team. In this hands-on site based role, you’ll be involved in asphalt testing and sampling across one of our major projects collecting samples, performing field tests, and supporting quality assurance to ensure projects run efficiently and meet the highest standards. As a Trainee, you will benefit from a supportive, structured training and mentoring programme designed to help you develop your skills, along with the opportunity to gain a nationally recognised qualification. Role Responsibilities: * Collect and label asphalt samples from production plants and our project sites * Prepare and label samples for laboratory analysis according to standards * Perform on-site quality control tests (temperature, density, compaction, moisture content) * Responsible for checking mat and delivery temperatures, obtaining core samples, verifying layer thickness, and maintaining detailed test records. * Record and report production data and test results * Assist in checking layer thickness, surface levels, and material uniformity * Set up, maintain, and operate field testing equipment and safe operation of tools and test instruments * and safe operation of tools and test instruments * Report non-conformities or issues to supervisors promptly. Ideal Candidate: * A full UK Driving Licence * Willingness to work outdoors around live surfacing operations * A flexible approach to working hours and willingness to work regular overtime to meet the needs of the business when required * Good organisational skills. Able to plan, prioritise and meet tight deadlines, and the ability to deal with pressure in a professional manner * Ability to work with a high level of accuracy and ability to follow procedures * Excellent communication skills * Ability to work as part of a team as well as individually to ensure that team targets are always met * Flexible in your thinking and approach to tasks * Adapt successfully to changing situations and environments
