Job Description:
We have an exciting opportunity for a court usher to join one of our Government Client Willesden & Hendon Magistrates courts, on behalf of Harrow Crown Court, which has been temporarily closed.
YOU WILL BE WORKING AT BOTH COURTS ON A WEEKLY ROTA BASIS.
This is a full-time temporary role for 6 months, with the possibility of extension. Responsibilities include:
* Preparing courts for sittings and closing them at the end of the day.
* Keeping courtrooms clean and tidy throughout the day.
Salary and Hours:
Salary: £12.36/hour, rising to £13.25 after 12 weeks (with pension scheme and holiday benefits).
Hours: 37 hours/week, Monday to Friday, 09:00-17:00.
Successful candidates will undergo security checks, which take approximately 2-3 weeks.
Key Duties:
* Open and close courtrooms, ensuring they are prepared for hearings.
* Support and escort court users, providing guidance and assistance.
* Announce legal professionals and manage case announcements.
* Log hearing times and handle inquiries from the public and court users.
* Manage court files, including collection, delivery, and secure disposal.

* Excellent customer service and communication skills.
* Calmness under pressure and organizational skills.
Additional Responsibilities:
* Swear in witnesses, photocopy documents, and ensure the smooth running of courts.
* Supervise jury deliberation and administer oaths.
* Track attendance and comply with office standards.
Requirements:
* Experience in a public-facing environment is desirable.
* Good communication skills, both oral and written.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Important:
Candidates will undergo background and clearance checks, including DBS, reference, and address checks.
