RYA Senior Instructor – Seasonal Contract

Exe Sailing Club is seeking a proactive and experienced RYA Senior Instructor (SI) to support our training activities throughout the 2026 season. This is a key operational role within a busy, community-focused sailing club with an active programme of dinghy training, supervised sailing, youth development.
Role Overview
The Senior Instructor will be responsible for the safe and effective delivery of all RYA training sessions, ensuring high instructional standards and organisation, operational compliance, and a positive experience for members and course participants. The role combines on-the-water leadership with training centre management responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
* Supporting the Chief Instructor to coordinate club training activity.
* Deliver and supervise RYA dinghy training and club training activities.
* Assist in managing day-to-day operations of the training programme, including scheduling, risk assessments, and resource allocation.
* Maintain safety standards, oversee equipment care, and ensure RYA training centre compliance.
* Support and mentor instructors, volunteers, and assistant instructors.
* Promote a positive, inclusive training environment for adults, youth sailors, and new members.
Requirements
* Current RYA Senior Instructor (Dinghy) qualification with a valid First Aid certificate.
* Strong organisation, leadership, communication, and team management skills.
* Commitment to high-quality instruction and safety culture.
* Willing to work flexibly with weekend and evening work.
* Experience working within a club-based training environment and racing knowledge is advantageous.
Contract Details
* Term: 1 April – 30 September
* Hours: Full time, including weekends and evening weekday sessions
* Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
* Location: Exe Sailing Club, Exmouth, Devon, EX8 1EG
