About The Role
Fareham & Gosport Environmental Health Partnership are looking for an experienced Health and Safety professional to deliver an effective and customer focused health and safety advisory service across both Fareham and Gosport Borough Council’s. You’ll be committed to, and have a genuine interest, in the safety and wellbeing of people.
You’ll be the Council’s professional and technical lead on health and safety across a diverse range of Council services across both Fareham and Gosport, reporting to and advising the Chief Executive’s Management Team of both Council’s on matters of concern and significant legislative changes.
You’ll provide expert advice to managers of all our services as well as advising members and committees on health and safety matters.
You’ll ensure that systems are in place in order for the Council to be compliant with legal requirements and will be responsible for the provision and update of the Council’s overarching health and safety policies.
The role involves the coordination of risk assessments, safe operating procedures, emergency procedures, health and safety audits, accident investigations, delivering health and Safety training and liaising with external agencies.

Qualifications
* Possession of a minimum Level 5/6 qualification in Occupational Health and Safety (or equivalent). Be a Certified Member of IOSH as a minimum.
* Demonstrable experience in a Health and Safety role, with a proven track record of delivering strategic and operational Health and Safety initiatives.
* A mature attitude, excellent interpersonal skills and able to work without close supervision.
* The ability to work within a team.
* The ability to balance conflicting priorities.
* The ability to work with Microsoft Office applications.
* A steady and methodical approach to work.
* A sense of pride and commitment to doing a good job.
* The ability to actively listen to colleagues, understand their concerns, and provide practical, solution-focused Health and Safety advice.
* Experience of liaising with external agencies, such as insurers, the Fire and Rescue Service, and the Health and Safety Executive, to ensure effective communication and compliance with relevant standard and regulations.
* You should have excellent communication skills and be able to engage with individuals and groups across all levels of the organisation.
* Significant experience in the public sector would be an advantage as would a good understanding of Office 365.
* A valid driving licence and access to your own transport is essential.
