In-Comm are currently looking to recruit a specialist to join our team of engineering assessors. If you have a strong engineering background, ideally with knowledge and exposure to the aerospace industry, we would like to meet you.
Whilst this role can be based from either our Telford or Aldridge Academy, applicants should be aware that this role involves a lot of travel to our clients based around the West Midlands, South Staffordshire and Shropshire. You will routinely be visiting clients throughout the week with one day being Academy based.
Overview
* The Assessor is responsible for a caseload of work-based learners and to oversee the learners their activities that are conducted in line with the organisational systems and procedures.
* To coach and mentor the learners to ensure the individuals achieve their goals and aspirations.
* Carry out assessment and observation against national occupational standards.
* To ensure that timely achievement of qualifications are met.
Job Role
* Visiting learners either within their workplace or at our training academy to ensure the successful outcome of their learning journey in line with contractual targets and requirements.
* To conduct initial assessment and induction onto learning journeys for all learners ensuring a foundation is laid as to where the learner can move forward.
* Formulate training plans that meet the needs of the learners.
* Prepare, agree and review assessment plans with each learner. Create learner portfolios to agreed target standards and ensure they are submitted on time.
* Visit learners at agreed times and dates to provide support, prepare action plans, undertake assessments and provide feedback on performance.
* Efficient and effective operation of the assessment process in line with In-Comm's policies relating to quality and the requirements of the awarding bodies.
* Carry out progress reviews ensuring all parties are involved.
* Manage and maintain learner files in line with audit requirements.
* Liaise with other tutors to ensure that the learners' needs are met.
* Undertake Health & Safety checks for learners on programme.
* Ensure a full embedding of all equal opportunities, safeguarding and health & Safety requirement are complied with and all learners are given fair access to assessment.
* The Assessor has the responsibility of ensuring learners are given the training delivery and support in order to complete their qualification timely.
* To discuss and review learner progression on a one to one basis with the with their sector lead on a quarterly basis.
* To ensure that they ensure all relevant information is passed to the correct individuals so that barriers for learning are overcome.
* To take ownership of the learner's learning journey from start to finish.
* Assessors will systematically review their learners through coaching and mentoring, if there are issues affecting the learners' achievement and/or progression it is the responsibility of the advisor to facilitate this reporting a plan of action through to management.
* Refer learners to other sources of information where needed.
Qualifications
Essential:
* GCSE Grade 4 or above in Maths
* GCSE Grade 4 or above in English
* Level 3 Engineering apprenticeship (or equivalents and higher)
Highly Desirable:
* Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement (training can be given)
* Level 3 Award in Education and Training (training can be given)
* Level 4 Award in the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice
Competence and Skills
Essential
* Good communication skills both verbal and written, including ability to present information through different means

* Good use of IT (excel, powerpoint, share point)
