We are seeking a Manager to lead our Economic Crime Unit (ECU), which is part of the National Environmental Crime Unit (NECU). The successful candidate will lead a specialist team dedicated to removing the financial benefit from criminals.
Responsibilities
* Lead the ECU as strategic lead for managing financial investigations, ensuring compliance with the Proceeds of Crime Act (POCA).
* Provide strong leadership and development for two Team Leaders (Asset Denial Team and Money Laundering Investigation Team) and a Senior Financial Intelligence Officer.
* Collaborate with internal teams (Investigatory Teams, Intelligence & Partnerships, Legal) and external partners (Police, National Crime Agency, HMRC).
* Influence at senior levels to ensure EA priorities are recognised by external enforcement agencies.
* Support the wider organisation in improving processes and increasing understanding of POCA; share lessons learnt and advise other enforcement officers.
* Lead and participate in performance management and delivery of work by the team.
* Contribute to changes to technical documentation and enforcement capabilities.
Team and Environment
The Economic Crime Unit is made up of two teams – the Asset Denial Team and the Money Laundering Investigations Team – with Financial Investigators, Financial Intelligence Officers and Crime Analysts. The unit is nationally dispersed and handles serious and complex criminality involving organised crime networks.
Experience/Skills Required
* Exceptional leadership skills, ideally with experience in leading a dispersed team.
* Good understanding of financial investigations and the Proceeds of Crime Act.
* Experience in:
o Working in the law enforcement sector and understanding the National Intelligence Model
o Communicating effectively, delivering feedback, managing performance, and building relationships with external stakeholders
o Working under pressure and prioritising a varied workload
o Identifying areas for improvement and leading changes to working practices
o Developing and enhancing the capability of a team and the individuals within it
Contact and Additional Information
This is a hybrid working role with flexible working from home and your nearest office. Travel across the country for meetings and operational duties may be required. Incident response is a central part of our work and you may be required to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during an incident (additional payment may apply). Training and workplace adjustments will be available to support you.
