The Role:
The Children’s Services Department is committed to making Hampshire a better place for Children and Young People and we do this thanks to our people. Joining the Admissions Team, you will provide administrative support to admissions officers in the implementation of the main annual school admissions round and in-year admissions as well as the preparation of admission appeal cases and contribute to the delivery of an efficient service in support of business requirements.
What you’ll do:
You’ll handle school admissions by guiding parents and schools through the application process, maintaining accurate records, and issuing formal correspondence. You’ll support key annual admissions activities, assist officers with appeal administration, and respond to queries about admissions policies and legislation. You’ll work to strict deadlines, help monitor children missing education, and take part in training to support your development and the team’s work.
What we’re looking for:
This is a varied role which requires excellent data handling skills and a good working knowledge of IT packages such as Word, Excel, and Outlook. Experience in working successfully and accurately under pressure, including responding appropriately to stressful telephone calls. You will demonstrate high level communication skills and be able to deal sensitively with confidential information and enquiries. Knowledge of Children’s Services and schools would be an advantage.
