Accounts Manager | Ilford (IG1) | £75k-£80k with hybrid working
We are working with a well-established law firm to recruit an experienced Accounts Manager to lead its accounts function. This is a senior, hands-on role with responsibility for client and office accounts, compliance, reporting and team management, supporting the firm’s wider strategic objectives.
Reporting to the Senior Management Team, you will manage a team of six and take ownership of the firm’s financial operations, ensuring full compliance with the Solicitors Accounts Rules and all relevant regulatory requirements.
The role
You will oversee client and office ledgers, invoicing processes and bank reconciliations, produce month-end accounts and management information (including cashflow analysis), manage credit control, VAT returns and outsourced payroll, and liaise with external auditors. You will proactively identify financial or compliance risks, keep up to date with regulatory changes, and support the firm in delivering its business plan. A strong focus on accuracy, quality and client care is essential.
The candidate
This role is suited to an Accounts Manager with extensive experience in a law firm environment. Proven experience working within a Lexcel and SQM accredited firm is essential, as is hands-on Legal Aid experience. You will have a strong working knowledge of the Solicitors Accounts Rules, VAT, AML and related compliance obligations, and be confident working independently with minimal supervision.
Strong systems and IT skills, excellent organisational ability, and clear written and verbal communication are key. You will also bring integrity, professionalism and a proactive approach, with experience supervising and developing accounts staff.
