About the Role
Staffline Recruitment Ireland is partnering with a respected Northern Ireland organisation to appoint a Director of Policy & Insight. This senior leadership position plays a significant role in shaping strategic direction through policy development, research, insight generation, public affairs, and stakeholder engagement. You will lead the Policy & Insight team and act as a key voice in influencing public policy, strengthening sector impact, and supporting organisational innovation.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead, mentor and develop the Policy & Insight team to deliver high-quality research and policy work.
* Oversee policy development, consultations and responses on key social and economic issues.
* Direct public affairs, communications and strategic engagement activity, acting as spokesperson as required.
* Build strong relationships with government departments, elected representatives, media and sector partners.
* Contribute to organisational strategy, business planning and income generation initiatives.
* Ensure effective reporting, planning and delivery of key campaigns and policy outputs.
Essential Criteria
Candidates must meet either Option 1 or Option 2.
Option 1:
* Degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline with substantial policy, research or public relations content.
* Minimum 3 years’ experience in each of the following:
* Leading policy development and consultation processes.
* Managing and motivating a high-performing team delivering work to tight deadlines.
* Working collaboratively with stakeholders (government, political representatives, sector bodies).
Option 2:
* Minimum 5 years’ experience in each of the three areas above.
Additional Requirements
* Experience working with media (traditional and digital) to communicate policy messages.
* Experience planning work programmes, coordinating campaigns and reporting on impact.
