About the role
You will drive a lorry from our fleet of Volvo vehicles. Vehicles are new (less than 4 years old) and equipped with high specifications to ensure driver comfort.
Most sites operate Monday to Friday, with 45-hour weeks and 9-hour shifts starting around 5/6pm. The shift schedules are well-organised so you often know in advance where you’ll be driving.
The role offers job security within a growing, global business. You will join a friendly team that supports each other and shares traffic updates via WhatsApp. Additional hours and enhanced bank holiday rates are available.
Key Role Responsibilities
* Trunk to regional hubs on the night shift; independence of long-haul driving with a home return at the end of each 9-hour shift.
* Ensure Cages, Pallets, Freight, Stillages and Yorks reach customers on time. Some sites load/unload for you; at others you may need to do it yourself. Scanning consignments and driving pallet trucks may be required.
* Inspect your vehicle and trailer daily and complete a Defect Report if necessary.
* Ensure everything is “right first time” for internal and external customers. Communicate any queries to the site manager promptly.
Ideal candidate
* Class 1 Driving licence as a minimum
* Driver CPC qualification card
* Completed required DCPC training hours or be working toward them
* Excellent knowledge of Road Transport Laws and commitment to safe road use
* A “can do” attitude
