Job Description
You will support transport planning for an award-winning Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, and Transport Planning consultancy in Portsmouth. They are trusted advisors on a multitude of projects at various stages in their project lifecycle, from appraisal through to construction, across sectors including residential, commercial, and retirement & care. They are an excellent employer for a progressive planner with consultancy experience.
Responsibilities:
1. Lead and manage small to medium-sized projects, including budget and time management, delegating where appropriate with input from senior colleagues.
2. Write and occasionally check Transport Assessments/Statements, Technical Notes, Travel Plans, Access Appraisals, etc.
3. Maintain a good understanding of modelling packages and methodologies to calculate trip distributions.
4. Complete/review planning drawing requirements, such as visibility splays, vehicle tracking diagrams, access designs, etc.
5. Undertake site visits independently and provide professional opinions to inform scheme development at early project stages.
6. Attend project team, client, and Local Highway Authority meetings.
7. Help prepare material for and attend Public Consultations.
8. Complete proposals for small to medium projects and contribute to larger sites where required.
9. Develop good personal and company working relationships with architects, planners, and local highways officers.
Requirements:
1. Degree-level qualification or equivalent.
2. At least 2 years of transport planning experience, ideally exploring membership at a professional organization.
3. Working knowledge of relevant design guidance and awareness of local planning policies.
4. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to respond efficiently to demands at a high standard.
5. Ability to prioritize workload, work effectively as part of a team, and on own initiative.
6. Experience with computer-based systems, including Microsoft programmes.
7. Experience using AutoCAD, TRICs, and modelling software.
