Job Description
We’re looking for a senior operative / Production Lead to join our on-site solution at the Tesco site in Thurrock. It’s the perfect opportunity to take the next step in your career into a management role. The role will include hands-on operational work with scheduled time to build your skills in the value-add of management, including time working on H&S, Quality and your managerial skillsets.
CHEP manages a large pallet pool which is rented out to customers, and our operations repair and maintain the pallets. The primary purpose of the role is to lead a shift of 11 staff over a Monday to Friday shift, rotating 0600-1400 and 1400-2200. You’ll promote continuous improvement, safety and quality metrics whilst providing leadership to your team. You’ll also build and maintain good relations with 3rd party management teams on site.
Responsibilities
* Supervise, develop, and coach employees to build and maintain good relationships with third party management teams.
* Continuous improvement via systemic change based on data and root cause (data analysis and improvement / correction plans).
* Ownership and control of all quality related issues on the site/shift.
* Drive a zero-harm culture within the site/shift.
* Conduct tours in the 1-CHEP Management Observation Tool (MOT).
* Lead root cause analysis of all incidents that happen on shift.
* Share knowledge across business areas and adapt to new situations.
* Control Yard and Warehouse movements, delegating relevant tasks to FLT drivers with warehouse needs in mind.
* Hold daily shift briefs and report plant KPIs.
* Monitor and respond to zero-harm and production KPI in a timely and consistent way.
* Own the controls on safety, quality, and production.
* Assist in monitoring of employee holidays in compliance with the holiday policy booking system.
* Manage and monitor absence levels in accordance with Company procedures.
* Deputise for the Site Lead in their absence.
Qualifications
* Experienced in lean based / CI operational roles would be an advantage.
* 3 years in a production, manufacturing, or logistics environment.
* Ideally worked in a quality focused environment and familiar with quality-based standards.
* Experience working in a matrix structure.
* Strong numerical and verbal skills.
* Highly organised with a flexible, proactive, self-motivated, and persistent approach.
* Good coaching skills.
* Proven skills and capabilities in communication and problem solving.
* Knowledge and experience of quality principles.
* Experienced in the application of MS Office.
* Leadership, project management and change capabilities.
