Overview
William Hercock Limited is a family-owned Builders Merchant with depots across Leicestershire and Rutland. We offer an extensive range of building products for tradespeople, DIY enthusiasts, self-builders and more. We are recruiting for a Yard Foreman to work at our Melton Mowbray Branch. The successful applicant will be responsible for a busy team on our 4 acre site. The organisation expects you to demonstrate professionalism and reliability while representing our commitment to customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities
* To oversee daily activities of yard personnel, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and safely.
* To coordinate loading and unloading of materials, maintain accurate inventory, and ensure proper storage and delivery of products.
* Enforce adherence to safety procedures and company policies.
* Provide outstanding customer service, addressing any customer concerns or dissatisfaction promptly.
* Train new employees on safety procedures and operational guidelines, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
* Maintain accurate paperwork related to inventory, equipment inspections, and daily operations.
Required Skills and Qualifications
* Education: A good level of education at GCSE levels and above; additional qualifications in management or relevant fields are preferred but not a necessity.
* Experience: Minimum of 1 year in yard management or a related field.
* Technical Skills: Knowledge of basic yard tools and equipment, as well as Fork Lift truck experience and/or licence.
* Soft Skills: Excellent communication, organisational, and customer service skills; ability to work independently and adapt to changing workloads.
* Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift up to 25kg regularly and operate forklifts and other machinery safely.
* Working Environment: Typically working in an outdoor setting, which will involve exposure to various weather conditions. The role requires a hands-on approach, often involving physical labour alongside supervising staff. A commitment to safety and teamwork is essential.
Hours, Salary & Benefits
* Hours: 7:30am until 5:00pm Monday to Friday.
* Saturday: 8:00am until 12noon on Saturdays (on a rota basis, typically 1 in 2).
* Salary: We provide a competitive salary depending on experience.
