Employment Tribunal Lawyer - Leeds
This is a fantastic opportunity to work as part of the Leeds team, focusing on contentious Employment Tribunal work, mainly Tribunal cases funded by Legal Expenses Insurance (LEI).
LEI is a dedicated area within our Leeds team, offering close collaboration with colleagues engaged in similar work and integration into the wider Leeds and Northern teams. The cases are varied, including Claimant and Respondent claims, some of high value. This busy role provides ample opportunities to develop your skills, deepen your expertise in employment litigation, and contribute significantly to this dynamic area.
Your responsibilities include:
1. Gaining hands-on experience from the start.
2. Participating in all stages of Employment Tribunal work, such as merits assessments, witness statements, document bundles, and hearing preparations.
3. Managing your own cases with support from senior LEI team members.
4. Accessing junior support for case management tasks.
5. Engaging with challenging and complex cases, including discrimination, whistleblowing, and status claims.
6. Participating in a comprehensive training program overseen by our award-winning Employment Law Practice Support team, including monthly legal updates and technical training tailored for solicitors under 5 years PQE.
About You
* 1-4 years PQE; experienced Legal Executives will also be considered.
* Experience representing Claimants and Respondents in Employment Tribunals.
* Enthusiasm for contentious work and interest in both respondent and claimant roles.
* Commercial mindset with innovative thinking.
* Commitment to achieving the best outcomes for clients.
* Ability to manage multiple deadlines and a varied workload.
* Experience mentoring paralegals and legal assistants.
* Experience with legal expenses insurance-funded work or volume litigation is desirable but not essential.
