Design & Technology Technician
Contract: Full Time, Term Time Only (Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 4:00pm)
Location: Pontypridd CF37
Start Date: November 3rd 2025 (or as soon after)
Salary: £13.75 – £15 per hour
About the Role
Teaching Personnel are seeking a proactive and skilled Design & Technology (DT) Technician to join the vibrant DT department of one of our close partner schools in Pontypridd, South Wales (CF37). The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting teachers and pupils across a range of practical subjects, ensuring the smooth running of the workshops and the effective preparation of materials and equipment for lessons.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and organise materials, tools, and equipment for practical lessons in all areas of Design & Technology.
Maintain machinery, tools, and workshop spaces to ensure a safe and efficient learning environment.
Support teaching staff in delivering engaging and practical DT lessons.
Provide technical support and guidance to pupils during practical sessions, ensuring safe and correct use of tools and machinery.
Assist with the ordering, storage, and management of materials and consumables.
Ensure that all Health & Safety procedures are followed and that equipment maintenance records are kept up to date.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
Practical experience in workshop environments (wood, metal, plastics, or electronics).
Strong understanding of Health & Safety procedures in a workshop setting.
Good organisational and communication skills, with a flexible and supportive approach to teamwork.
Confidence in supporting pupils during practical work.
A willingness to undertake relevant training and continuous professional development.
DATA (Design and Technology Association) training is highly desirable.
