Overview
The Faculty of Classics wishes to recruit a Part-Time Museum and Collections Assistant in the Museum of Classical Archaeology. This is a part-time role of 20 hours per week, Monday to Friday from 13:00 to 17:00. Duties include front-of-house during open hours, assisting the Curator with exhibitions and the collection, operating the Museum's social media accounts, and supporting promotional work.
About the Museum
The Museum of Classical Archaeology in Cambridge houses one of the largest plaster cast collections of ancient sculpture. It is on the first floor of the Faculty of Classics in Sidgwick Avenue. It displays about 80% of its approximately 600 casts, plus a small collection of original pots and bronzes and a large collection of ancient potsherds. The Museum is staffed by a Director (University Teaching Officer), a Curator, and a part-time Education and Outreach Coordinator, with graduate invigilators as needed. It is a member of the University of Cambridge Museums consortium and funded by Arts Council England as a National Portfolio Organisation. Responsibilities
* Provide front-of-house presence during open hours.
* Assist the Curator with exhibitions and the management of the collection.
* Operate the Museum's social media accounts and support promotional activities.
