Senior General Manager opportunity within precision manufacturing, based in Derbyshire.
This is a senior leadership role for an experienced General Manager to join a high performance precision machining manufacturing business.
You will take full site responsibility, reporting to the Board and leading operations within a precision engineering environment. The business specialises in delivering complex, tight tolerance machined components to customers who expect excellent quality, reliability, and delivery performance.
The board is looking for a commercially strong General Manager who can improve operational performance, drive continuous improvement, and support long term business growth.

This is a precision machining manufacturing business focused on producing complex components with very tight tolerances for demanding customers.
The organisation has invested consistently in capability, technology, and people development. The next General Manager will be expected to build on this foundation and help shape future performance.
The working culture is practical and performance led. You will need to be comfortable being visible across the shop floor, working closely with technical specialists, and maintaining strong customer relationships.
As General Manager you will:
• Hold full site P&L accountability and deliver financial and operational targets
• Lead production, engineering, quality, and supply chain functions
• Drive lean manufacturing and continuous improvement across operations
• Work with the Board to develop and execute site strategy and growth plans
• Maintain strong relationships across key customer accounts
• Develop and lead senior operational managers, promoting accountability and high performance
• Ensure compliance with relevant quality management and industry standards
• Support capital investment, capacity planning, and productivity improvement
• Identify commercial opportunities to strengthen existing accounts and win new work
This is a leadership role for a General Manager who wants to influence performance and direction.
The Person
You will be an established senior manufacturing leader with strong precision machining experience. Sector experience in high compliance engineering environments is essential.
Must have experience
• Operating at General Manager, Operations Director, or Plant Manager level within precision machining or closely related manufacturing environments
• Strong background in CNC turning, milling, or multi axis machining operations
• Full P and L ownership with a track record of improving financial and operational performance
• Knowledge of quality management systems and customer approval processes
• Experience leading multi disciplinary teams in high compliance manufacturing settings
• Continuous improvement expertise, ideally Six Sigma qualified or equivalent
• Confidence working across board level, customer interface, and shop floor operations
