The James Paget Hospital Pharmacy team is looking for an enthusiastic, highly motivated Pharmacy Technician to join our dispensary, clinical and support services and contribute to our growing service. The Pharmacy department is a diverse and inclusive team.
We consider requests for flexible hours or part time/job share roles in line with our service requirements. Our vision is to provide safe, high quality seamless services delivered with courtesy and respect. The Pharmacy team work one in every six weekends to support our 7-day service. We are looking for a qualified Technician to join our Pharmacy team, providing high quality care to patients admitted to the hospital.
Main duties of the job
To act as a member of the Pharmacy team, undertaking a full range of duties commensurate with the professional role of a Pharmacy Technician, under the supervision of the Chief Pharmacist whilst working within the legal requirements, Trust policies and department procedures as laid down by the department and the Trust.
Work in a ward-based setting to participate in medicines management duties including the assessment of patient of drugs, supply of medicines, drug history taking, medicines related patient counselling and transcribing.
Work in the dispensary (and where appropriate in a ward-based setting) to dispense and final accuracy check medicines.
Work in the production unit (and where necessary the haematology ward) liaising with Sandra Chapman Centre to ensure a timely supply of chemotherapy and supportive medication to patients.
Provide medicines related patient counselling of outpatients in the Pharmacy.
Distribution and stock control of medicines.
Daily supervision of dispensary staff.
Lead in the training and educational supervision of allocated staff.
To work flexibly, responding to the needs of the department which will include rotating through each area according to the departmental rota and participating in the weekend rota, bank holiday rota and late clinic rota.

Education and Qualifications
* NVQ Level 3 or equivalent
* Registration with General Pharmaceutical Council
* NVQ Assessor
Skills and Experience
* Post-qualification experience within hospital
* Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team
* Ability to demonstrate an understanding of hospital pharmacy and its staff skill mix
