5-6 Months with a Local Authority Summary The Performance & Data Analyst is a crucial role within a local authority, tasked with delivering accurate, timely, and meaningful data, analysis, and insights to the Council’s Management Board. This position supports evidence-based decision-making, continuous improvement, and operational efficiency, primarily focusing on Children’s Services with an emphasis on Education. Familiarity with School Census returns, CME/EHE returns, Key Stage Collections, and Education systems such as Education MRI, VYED, and Nexus is highly desirable. Responsibilities Analyse performance data to identify trends, needs, and areas for improvement. Develop and monitor performance targets to support service improvement. Produce clear, concise reports tailored for senior managers, Councillors, and operational teams. Automate and streamline reporting processes wherever possible. Support directorates in developing outcome-focused performance measures. Challenge and validate data outturns to ensure accuracy and identify risk areas. Provide proposals for remedial action based on analytical findings. Deliver statutory data submissions (Equalities, national returns, regulatory reporting). Requirements Essential Experience Required Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and produce actionable insights. Advanced proficiency in: SQL SSRS (report writing) Power BI / Tableau Excel & Power Query Statistical software tools GIS (desirable) Experience managing and integrating data from multiple sources. Essential Qualifications Required Degree or equivalent professional experience. Evidence of ongoing professional development in data analytics, performance management, or related fields.
