The role

requires regular travel to client sites.

Tasks include:

1. Developing and maintaining positive engagement with Programme Customers, partners and Suppliers
2. Define and execute a single large complex project or portfolio of smaller projects to within a governance framework. This includes working to project baselines and managing change through governance.
3. Resolving conflicts (including prioritisation calls) within a large project or programme and collaborating across QinetiQ to find the optimum business outcome.
4. Lead and manage technical specialists and software project teams to deliver on project goals.
5. Develop detailed, costed project plans and update reporting systems to ensure adherence to project objectives.
6. Maintain project forecasts for sales and delivery which reflects expectations of project stakeholders.
7. Liaising with functions and departments across QinetiQ to secure project resource in the context of optimising overall company success.
8. Maintain forecasts for sales and delivery including preparing reports, presentations, and KPIs for management as needed.
9. Coordinate with stakeholders across QinetiQ and its Subsidiaries to promote project buy-in, communicating project purpose for transparency and alignment.
10. Establishing clear guidelines and governance processes.
11. Identifying risks and opportunities, assessing impact, and developing mitigation/securing strategies

The candidate must be able to demonstrate the following capabilities and qualities:

17. Teamwork: being able to create an environment where a group of people with diverse personalities, skills, experiences and perspectives are empowered to collaborate towards a common goal.
18. Business Development: being able to identify, develop and deliver solutions to our customers’ problems within a commercial framework to maximise benefit to both our customers and QinetiQ.
19. Negotiation & Conflict Management: being able to identify and address differences of objective, attitude or perception in order to produce an agreed outcome for all parties..
20. Problem Solving: being able to apply strong analytical and conceptual skills to identify possible courses of action and determine the best option.
21. Resilience and Tenacity: Ability to prioritise tasks to meet strict deadlines, deal with setbacks and respond positively when things do not go according to plan.

Experience:

Essential:

22. Experience leading programmes or complex projects to several different customers
23. Delivering projects within a UK Government contract framework
24. Managing formal governance reviews and presenting to Executive stakeholders
25. Calculating and reporting project KPI’s including Earned Value Management / EVM
26. Commercial Customer/ Stakeholder Management
27. Subcontractor/Supplier Management
28. Proven experience of managing multi-faceted Software / Integration projects
29. Formal Risk Management Process
30. Waterfall and Agile technical delivery

Desired:

31. Experience of project management within the defence and security domains
32. Experience working in a large organisation operating a matrix organisation
33. Digital modelling, Simulation or Decision Support products
34. Scaled Agile for Enterprise experience
