Staff Nurse Countywide Children's Clinic
Role Summary: Using your clinical experience and skills you will work with your team as a named nurse to maintain accountability for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating programmes of care within the framework of team nursing. You will communicate effectively with patients and their carers regarding their care and educate patients where there is a need. You will communicate effectively with the Multi-Disciplinary Team to ensure high quality patient care. You will show commitment to sustaining and developing your clinical competence and professional awareness. You will provide supervision, support and education to unqualified staff and students. This role will require you to work variable hours in order to fulfil the needs of the ward. You will speak up when you have concerns and embrace new ways of working to do the right thing for the people you care for.

Responsibilities
* Develop, implement and evaluate programmes of care including discharge planning for each patient.
* Safeguard vulnerable Children and Young People. Participate in preceptorship programmes and act as a facilitator/mentor/preceptor/role model to less experienced staff.
* Educate patients and their carers as required, including information on adopting a healthier lifestyle. Complete patient documentation accurately.
* Communicate effectively with patients, carers and the Multi-Disciplinary Team. Maintain a professional portfolio with evidence of reflective practice and meet Revalidation requirements.
* Assist in the training and development of student nurses and healthcare assistants; complete assessors training as required. Contribute to research and development programmes within the ward/department.
* Contribute to setting and monitoring measurable standards of care; handle complaints in line with Trust policy; maintain a safe, clean clinical environment and carry out general risk assessments within 24 hours of admission (e.g., manual handling, pressure risks, nutrition, safeguarding).
* Be mindful of budgeting, manage equipment use, assess staffing requirements and report issues to the appropriate manager. With supervision, undertake clinical/shift management within the department as part of the development programme.
