The role An exciting opportunity has arisen for three Harbour Security Officers, primarily based in Brixham Harbour, with out‑of‑hours support at Paignton & Torquay. The successful candidates will be required to work on a 24/7 rota, covering nights, weekends and bank holidays, providing a professional, high-profile security presence across Torbay Harbours. Working as part of a team, you will help ensure our harbours remain safe, secure and welcoming for all users. This is a physically active, outdoor role working in all weather conditions and often involves spending long periods of time on your feet around moving vehicles. Full training and personal protective equipment (PPE) will be provided. We are looking for approachable, reliable and customer focused individuals who can deliver excellent customer service while maintaining high standards of safety and security. SWISCo Ltd Security provides contracted security services to Torbay Harbours. When the Security Team Manager is not on site, officers will report to the Harbour Master or Assistant Harbour Master for day‑to‑day harbour matters. Key Duties and Responsibilities - Maintain a high‑visibility security presence, controlling access to restricted areas and enhancing public safety. - Conduct regular security patrols and manage access to harbour facilities, - Monitor site activity, including CCTV/ANPR, traffic and parking control and secure gate/building access. - Ensure safe and compliant harbour operations in line with HSE and Harbour Master directives during routine activities and emergencies. - Respond appropriately to incidents and supporting daily harbour operations. - Provide accurate communication and documentation using VHF radio, completing logs, reports and records. - Assist harbour operations, including boat counts, fee and dues collection and directing vessel movement. - Provide professional support to harbour users, contractors and visitors, resolving conflict calmly and fostering positive relationships with staff and the public. Experience - Previous experience working in the security industry.
