Specialist Palliative Care Chaplain

SAH Band 6

Salary: £38,711 to £43,261 per annum, pro rata

Hours: 35 hrs per week


Who are we?

St Andrew’s Hospice is a registered charity providing specialist palliative care for patients with life-limiting conditions requiring complex symptom management and end-of-life care. It is Lanarkshire's specialist hospice, offering multidisciplinary support to patients, families, and carers. The service is free for adults in North and South Lanarkshire, regardless of race, gender, or creed. Our core values are Human Dignity, Compassion, Justice, Advocacy, and Quality.


What is the role?

The Specialist Palliative Care Chaplain is part of the Patient & Family Support team. Core responsibilities include:

* Contributing to the delivery of Chaplaincy, Spiritual Care, and Support services to patients and families.
* Ensuring care services meet national quality standards and inspection requirements.
* Planning and presiding over funeral services for individuals of all faiths and none.
* Providing professional advice to staff, patients, and volunteers, maintaining a visible support presence.
* Participating in education and training related to communication, bereavement, spirituality, and human development.
* Engaging in service reviews and supporting the development of clinical services to meet future needs.
* Being an active member of the AHPCC.


What we expect of you?

Applicants should have a degree in theology or equivalent, training in advanced communication, at least 3 years of pastoral/spiritual experience in healthcare, and a flexible approach to working hours. A keen interest in Palliative and End of Life Care is essential.
